2011 STATE OF THE 'BIN
Where, on the fourth anniversary of our site, our Chief Reviewing Officer addresses the Nation on
the state of the Bargain Bin Review.
Also, I'd like to report that I ain't 'fraid of no ghosts.

You might be thinking, “Of course he’d say that. What else can he say?” Partially because you’re
right. And partially because you’re a cynical bastard.
But hey, let's not bicker about just how cynical or bastardly you may or may not be. What's
important is that The State of The 'Bin truly is strong.
When last I addressed you all about the State of The ‘Bin, this site was still in its infancy. Over the
past two years, The ‘Bin has grown -- grown like a weed -- and is now coming into its own,
cracking voices and acne outbreaks and all.
You may recall (though I doubt it, but you can verify it here) that in my last State of The ‘Bin
address, I made mention of some bigger picture things I wanted to do, “some more long-term
than others.” I’m proud to say that all of those things came to pass:
- The launch of the Bloggin’ Bin Revue, the Official Blog of the Bargain Bin Review. Kicked
off on New Years Day 2010, the blog is on the verge of its 500th post.
- The premiere of Lair of the Unwanted, a monthly bad movie podcast co-hosted by the
most excellent Jason Soto of Invasion of the B-Movies. Now closing out its second year of
podcasting excellence, LotU is thisclose to maybe being nominated for a LAMMY.
- The creation of the B-Movie Bonanza, a live movie event hosted by the Bargain Bin
Review. We actually ran two of these: The first as a double-bill of Best Worst Movie and
Troll 2 and the second with a special showing of Plan 9 From Outer Space. More than just
a special feature, the B-Movie Bonanza features games, prizes, live entertainment and
more.
But that’s not all! Our accomplishments over the past two years are many. They include:
See? I told you the State of The ‘Bin was strong.
You could almost say The 'Bin has become the premiere MegaWeapon in facing bad movies.

Amazingly, four years in with a new review every Wednesday, and I don’t feel burned out. I still
look forward to the next review, still have a list yea long of films I want to tackle.
And I still have plenty of things in the works. In fact, for 2012, you can look forward to:
- A renewed focus on the Crap of the Titans, our pantheon of box office bombs, including a
new take on The Gauntlet in Summer 2012
- A return to our television theme month with May Sweeps II: The Sweepening
- Our 250th review
- A retrospective series called The Road to B-Movies, leading up to our five-year anniversary
Of course, I have other things in mind that I’d like to do, bigger things that (like the B-Movie
Bonanza) spring from the Bargain Bin Review but live elsewhere. More on those as they develop.
And then? Yes, robot butlers.
The Robot Butler: The crowning achievement of our civilization.
