It’s ON
Back in November 2009, to coincide with the second anniversary of The ‘Bin and the site’s 100th review, I gave a State of the ‘Bin Address.

Also, I dressed up as Elvis.
In that address, I spoke to the future of the Bargain Bin Review. I talked about starting up a Facebook page for The ‘Bin and such special events as The 2nd Annual Binnie Awards, and I’m happy to say that they all came to fruition.
I was purposely vague about the long-term goals for the coming year, saying…
I do have a couple other things brewing, some more long-term than others, so you’ll just have to keep an eye out. And after that? Flying cars! Video phones! And the Robot Butler I’ve always wanted!
I can now elaborate.
I had three major goals for 2010. At the time of the State of the ‘Bin Address, I had no idea of how feasible those goals were, but what’s the point of setting really easy goals, right?
- LAUNCH A SUPLEMENTARY BLOG. Hi. We’re here now, so clearly that happened. Okay, this wasn’t a difficult goal, but I did want the blog to have some actual purpose and value. Hopefully I’ve achieved that.
- LOOK INTO PRODUCING A PODCAST OR VLOG. I was originally looking into doing video reviews (eh, video clips of me reviewing movies, that is) much akin to the kind of thing Fred has been doing over at Full Moon Reviews but with my own approach. Then Jason from Invasion of the B-Movies parachuted in and proposed co-hosting a podcast, and the Lair of the Unwanted was born. Chef Tom will tell you that this kind of thing happens to me often. He’s not wrong.
- HOST A B-MOVIE DOUBLE-FEATURE EVENT. This was my white whale: Could I parlay the Bargain Bin Review into a real-world event? Turns out I can.
I am proud to announce that on November 6th, the Bargain Bin Review will present its first B-MOVIE BONANZA at the historic Uptown Theater in Utica, NY.
The B-MOVIE BONANZA will run a quality b-movie double feature (I’m going to hold off on announcing the titles for now, but trust me, it’s a quality pairing) along with games, vendors and live music.
Look for me to talk non-stop about this in the coming weeks.
